Sister Carries Twin To Finish Line

Posted by: on May, 22 2014

Here’s a really cool story to share, as Martha MacCallum told us about a young runner in Illinois who carried her injured sister across the finish line at a track meet. According to Fox affiliate KTVI, the 13-year-old twins were both competing in an 800-meter race at the Southern Illinois State track meet over the weekend.

All of a sudden Chloe Gruenke felt something pop in her thigh and fell to the ground. That’s when her sister, Claire, came to help. She put her sister on her back and ran the remaining 370 meters.

“It’s about showing compassion, love and sportsmanship. Even if you lose and help somebody it’s still worth it. The energy from the crowd made me stronger,” said Claire.

Though they finished last, the Gruenke sisters clearly won over the crowd.
