I was so impressed with this event (I ran the half)- especially since it was an inaugural race! The porta potties were plentiful and clean (that’s really all it takes to please me, but wait, there’s more!!). The packet pick up was super efficient and the volunteers lovely. The event was partnered with a beach party so the expo was way more than just a few energy bar booths. There were tons of booths, samples, and food trucks. Plus stuff for the kids – oh and it was right on the beach so really there was no excuse for boredom.
Race day morning was super easy. Parking was great. The race started on time AND had good corrals and wave starts so we were not all falling over each other at the start line. The course was a little dull but I actually like an out and back because I get so smile and cheer at runners coming the other direction. Lots of water stops with very nice volunteers AND more porta potties. Sweet mile markers that were hand made (nice touch). The finish line was a little cramped but there was the beach party going on along the bike path so there was more to do than just hang out at the finish line. Nice choice of post race food including watermelon and pineapple and starbucks bottled drinks. (plus there was an actual Starbucks in walking distance so I got to walk off the leg cramps and caffeinate too! win-win).
Nice medal and shirt too.
Overall, you can tell this race was organized by someone who loves to run. There was attention to detail and lots of nice runner perks. Well done, I’m really impressed and glad that I’ll be a legacy runner for this event!!
