Review of San Diego Triathlon Classic by SDlocal

This is a fantastic, very well managed, and scenic Olympic Distance Triathlon. The race takes place in beautiful and historic Liberty Station, home of Moment Cycle Sport which is the incredible Bike Shop that puts on the event. There is ample parking on race morning, and transition area takes place on a grass lawn, so there are no tiny pebbles to worry about stepping on during transition. The bike course (2 loops) is beautiful, it passes through Fort Rosecrans and its inspirational to be riding the rolling course where so many men and woman who served in the military lie at rest. Its incredible to have the Pacific Ocean on one side with the backdrop of Downtown San Diego on the other. The 10k run is flat and fast and takes place on hard packed dirt paths throughout Liberty Station before finishing back at the Transition Area. Finishers get a GREAT finishers medal (2011 medal had an integrated bottle opener), and competitors also got 2 fantastic shirts, a moisture wicking tee which is great to run in, and a thin cotton shirt which is amazing to wear around the house or out and about. This race is truly a fantastic course, and the folks at Moment Cycle sport do a fantastic job in making this a memorable racing experience. I encourage anyone who reads this to take part in the San Diego Triathlon Classic in 2012.
