Review of Redlands Triathlon/Duathlon by jsteen00

I like the smaller local races, but this one needs a little more organization. There were no course maps available prior to the race, and limited maps available the morning prior to the race. There was confusion, mostly on the bike regarding the bike out and bike in areas. On the bike course, there were several bikers that went off course, and some bikers unintentionally cut the course short getting back to T2. This is resolved with more/better volunteers and a couple dozen extra orange cones.

After the race, the results/awards took way too long. Even on a non-chip timing race, someone with a laptop and a spreadsheet should be able to do this pretty efficiently. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen here.

Also, for the duathlon (and maybe the triathlon), the age groups weren’t gender specific.

It is a nice, local race, but needs some help with organization. The funds go to a great cause, and it’s a real inexpensive race too.
