The OC Marathon was my very first marathon. It ended up proving to be one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Packet pick up the day before the expo went very smoothly and there were lots of great vendors there. As for the race itself, I love the early start time so you get to finish before the temps get too hot. The start line and corrals made things very easy and efficient. The course was really great and scenic as well as the volunteers were so awesome. The hills on the course were very minor and easy to climb. The crowd support, though maybe not as big as some bigger races, just felt so heartfelt and personal. So many people came out of their homes and were cheering us on. Many of them with water, other fluids, and snacks to help us along our way. I enjoyed the point to point course and the hotel shuttles made it very easy to get to the start line and then from the finish back to the start. The post race goody bag had everything I needed to begin with my recovery. Overall, though I have run other marathons since, this one is my absolute favorite.
