Pre-race: Fail. There were not enough bathrooms at the start of the race and none of them had toilet paper, which is just disgusting and inexcusable. The line was literally 40 minutes long – I barely made it in time to start with the very last corral (I was supposed to be in corral 2), and there still looked to be hundreds of people waiting in line. Thankfully I wasn’t checking a bag, because that line was ridiculously long too.
Course: The course was very pretty and enjoyable overall (except when we got bottle-necked into some narrow paths and people kept running into each other). There were plenty of water/Gatorade stations and Cliff gels at mile 9. But again, too few bathrooms, long lines, and NO toilet paper, so Fail.
Post-race: This was a mess. I got my medal, but I heard they ran out for people who finished later. Some people also had to wait 2 hours to get their checked bags back and another 2 hours to get out of the parking lot. I’m glad I got dropped off instead of parking there (even though I had to walk another mile to the nearest place to get picked up). Also, the goody bags sucked. You get an orange, a bottle of water, and a little pack of fig newtons – that’s it. They want you to stay and spend money on food.
Overall: Never doing this race again. I’m just glad I got it over with for the Beach Cities Challenge.
