Fantastic organization, volunteers, on-course entertainment (for a 10k, mind you), finish line food/nutrition and post-race concert and goodies! You can PR this course and have the time of your life with your fellow runners (mostly female! It’s called “She Runs LA” after all). Costumes were optional but nearly *everyone* dressed up and it was colourfully-wonderful!
Registration Process: Easy via online, albeit you do get charged for a processing fee less than $4.
Packet Pick-Ups: More than one day to do the pick-up (race day pickup included at no extra charge) and there was even a live DJ. They make the packet pick up an event to remember, too.
Race Day Parking: My only qualm, but there was more than enough parking for everyone ($5/ day inside the actual Paramount Studios) and for anyone that found free street parking, kudos.
Course: Decent — flat, adequately staffed at water stations (again, for a 10k!). Roads fully closed and enthusiastic police cheering on the participants. No medical tent on-course but each block had a police officer on-comm so I reckon they could have called for help if it was needed.
Post-Race Party and Goodies: Sweet. Not only was the venue fantastic (inside Paramount Studios lots, so you got to see the building and neighbourhood façade, but they had stations to get your hair done (Paul Mitchell), freebies from Nike (thanks to Nike Training Club), Treadmill karaoke! and a post-race concert. It felt more like a marathon or half-marathon post-race event, rather than a 10km race.
Well worth the money! I’m doing this again next year.
