Review of Laguna Niguel Triathlon by

Today, I competed in the Duathlon. I’ve done many Triathlons, but never a Duathlon. I had a great time. Starting with packet pick-up yesterday, my daughter and I went to the park, had lunch and picked up my race bib. No lines..in and out in a flash. This morning, parking was free and not hard to find. The course was along a tree lined park. Nice and flat (for the most part) and fast. Wow!…the bike was super fun! After the initial climb to Alicia Parkway, it was a long downhill…30mph! Did two loops on the bike and then ran another 5K.

This was the first year for this event, and I predict it will grow. One concern if I was the race director, would be to find more parking options and get more volunteers to manage the crowds. Also, they need better T1/T2 security. It would be too easy for somebody to walk off with a $5K bike. Definitely doing this one again!
