Review of Kevin Cook Spirit 5K Run/Walk by Johnnie McIntyre

As a high school Cross Country Coach, I find the Spirit Run to be an excellent way to start off the season for any program. It is an introductory type course that is great for new athletes to get one of there first 5K experiences as well as a way to get veterans back into race pace at the beginning of the season. Throughout the event there are many other running related affairs going on that are provided. From free massages, running apparel at great prices and great Post-race food there are many things to keep you occupied before and after your races. Another plus is that the cost to bring a team is always kept inexpensive. Add on that they have inexpensive “Open” races for adults AND children and its a day that any and everyone can enjoy. Did I mention everyone who completes the course gets a medal? Best of all the entire event is done as a memorial for a local runner, Kevin Cook, and all the proceeds go towards Scholarships for graduating Seniors. Add this all together and you’ve got one of the best early season events in Orange County. I have been attending with my team for several years and will continue as long as it’s available.
