Review of Hollywood Half Marathon by

Posted by: on April, 9 2013

My first time running this race and I’m hooked. The course was really great, compared to what I heard last year, and absolutely no problems for me whatsoever. I got a room at the Roosevelt and accidentally booked for the 7th instead of the 6th, so that was my fault, but luckily my friend had a spare bed at his hotel so we were set at the Start line. I parked at the H&H center and it was a breeze to get where I needed to go for my corral and everything.

From hearing and reading everyone’s reviews last year, I was hesitant to do this, but as a first timer to the Holllywood Half, I’m definitely coming back. There were plenty of cups, the course was challenging but not too hard for a beginner, and actually not as boring as one would imagine. Great bands and entertainment throughout the course, and great volunteers & support from them as well. Gatorade stations well placed, water stations a plenty (LOTS of cups this time).

The finish line festivities were awesome, and there was Superman at the finish handing you your medals too! Plenty of food, bananas, bagels, juice and band still going strong. 🙂

I wasn’t looking to PR, but since the challenging rolling hills were at Silver Lake Blvd were in the middle of the course, it helped to speed my time up big time. I hit my PR with just over 3 hours (my previous PR was 3:20, so now that it’s 3:06, I’m incredibly happy with how things worked out. The Superhero crew is incredibly supportive and listen to all critiques & suggestions.
