Review of Breath of Life Triathlon Ventura by

I like this triathlon. I did the Olympic distance last year and did the Sprint this year. For both years, I just picked up my packet right before the race which is convenient. There are a few vendors at the race site. I had plenty of space in the transition area and didn’t feel squeezed in. The swim is in the Ventura Harbor so there are no waves to worry about which is great for newbie triathletes. The water was about 64 degrees so I definitely recommend wearing a wetsuit. Doing the Sprint this year was way more fun because you only have to do 1 lap of the bike course instead of 3 which can get tedious. Both the bike and run course is pretty flat so you can set a PR if you want. Post race is great because they gave out hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, salad, water, etc. The only thing that brought this race down for me was that 2 days after the race, we got an email stating a racer was hit on the bike course in a hit and run accident. That is just so sad. The bike course is on an open road and you share the road with cars. I know it’s not the race’s fault but please be aware of how dangerous it can be when you’re racing in an open road. I hope the racer is okay. Overall I give this race an A for everything but also a cautious note to all future racers of this event when you are riding the bike course.
