I’ve done this race 3 years in a row. This year it was at the La Mirada Regional Aquatic Center. Packet pickup was very organized. I loved the cotton tee even though the website said it was supposed to be a tech tee. They had a little warm up before the first wave at 7:30 am. The race started a little behind schedule. The run was mostly on wet grass which flew everywhere. We ran up and down the park basically. The best part was the “lazy river” finish. I love that water finish because it’s so refreshing and different from other 5Ks. Their medals are always nice and heavy which I like. At the finish there were also vendors that gave out freebies which is cool. I will continue to do this race every year because they are so organized and it’s always a fun race. My favorite venue was last year at Knott’s Soak City!

All of the volunteers working the race were super friendly and helpful. Most people running the race had a great attitude. Plus all the proceeds benefit needy children in Mexico – a great cause! Love the running through water – so fun! The kids that ran the race looked like they were having the best time too! I highly recommend this race to anyone!

I have to agree with the first poster. All of our t-shirts STILL stink like rubber/chemicals this many months later. It’s a bummer, too, because the graphics and technical shirt quality are great. But the t-shirt can’t be worn as the smell gets in your nostrils and on your skin.
Overall, this was one of my favorite runs so far. Two things…the water was NOT knee deep. I am 6′ and the water was definitely waist level. Made for much slower times. But it was fun running through Knott’s. I will probably do this race again next year. BUT FIX THE SHIRT PROBLEM!

Could you have had less bathrooms. We used the mens room (women) and was still ten mins late for start and got in line for the ladies room with twenty mins to spare! Could your bib and tee area have been less organized and smaller?!?!?! UGH that was the worst morning of expo ever. (big parking lot fifteen feet away didn’t it occur to anyone to use that? And what did you do to the shirts they smell something awful (not just mine there were five of us they all smell and it doesn’t wash out)
Race was awesome! Lots of encouragement on the course. Loved that it went through the park wish it had a bit more of Soak City but was good.
Post race was also very cramped and you took out about 20 tables and chairs for runners to rest on WHY block off that? and the exit oh my! single file?
I will run it one more year and see if you took any of these concerns seriously. But if you have issues with crowded spaces and disorganization stay away from this race because the people who set up pre and post had no clue
