Silverman 70.3 Ironman

October 05, 2014 · Henderson, NV

Distance: 1.2 mile swim, 13.1 mile run, 56 mile bike

Just minutes away from one of the world’s most famous vacation spots, IRONMAN 70.3 Silverman features spectacular desert scenery in a venue filled with entertainment options.

Debuting this year, IRONMAN 70.3 Silverman begins with a swim in the largest reservoir in the U.S: the pristine Lake Mead. The course then takes athletes through the surrounding Lake Mead National Recreation area, home to some of the country’s most stark, beautiful desert landscapes. The former home of the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship (from 2011 to 2013), this race combines the beauty of nature and the energy of Vegas with a course that for years tested the world’s best triathletes.

In addition to the natural beauty of the area, another perk of this event is its proximity to one of the world’s most famous vacation spots. The town of Henderson, Nev. hosts the finish line, allowing athletes to stage their vacations just minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. Billed as the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas offers athletes and their families an incredible holiday spot for some post-race downtime. Whether it’s a show, playing the slots, or taking a day trip to the Hoover Dam, the area offers something for city and nature-lovers alike. Regardless of your choice, an unforgettable trip awaits.

The race begins with a calm 1.2-mile swim in Lake Mead, followed by a challenging, 56-mile bike through over hilly terrain. A 13.1-mile run through Henderson’s scenic residential areas (with views of the Las Vegas Strip) closes out the day.
