As the previous reviewer said, this race was pretty no-frills. They had race-day packet pick-up, which is always a huge plus. My husband and I showed up about 45 minutes early, parked right across the street from the start line, grabbed our packet, and still had time to drop stuff off back at the car and hit the bathroom before we started the run.
The course itself was a pretty nice out and back. Another gorgeous So-Cal run along the ocean. Can’t ask for much more than that. The road was still open to vehicles, but there was a lane marked off for runners and a ton of police presence directing traffic along the course. Not much shade, so don’t forget the sunscreen.
Post-race was equally no-frills. A massage tent, some fresh fruit, and people stretching on the grassy area near the finish. Very chill. You got a medal and a very nice tech shirt, and the race is chip-timed and there are photographers on the course, so it covers all the bases that people expect. Oh, and don’t forget the affordable entry fee! Overall, very well organized race. I am signed up for 2 more races with this same race director, and looking forward to them.

It was there inaugural race. It was really a small crowd. I am a no frills kind of guy. So, it did not bother me much that there was not a large post race party. I am there to run. I picked up my race packet the morning of the race. So, I cannot comment on the pre-race. The race started on the beach and continued along the coast for an up and back race. I prefer this to a loop any day. The run was perfect, if you like the California coast and crashing waves (which I do). They could have marked out the course a little more. Some chalk on the ground is always nice to see that you are on the correct path. The parking was convenient with a parking structure within a block or two and many public parking lots. The post race was very small. Help yourself water, bananas. etc. I did not see any vendors other than a free message The metal was nothing big. They had the same metal for the 5K, 10K and half marathon. I would have like to have a bigger one for doing the half marathon, but it was such a beautiful run who cares really? Overall, I would recommend it to pure running enthusiast. Good job!
