I got my packet the day before, and the parking was crazy then because they already had some of the no parking signs for the next day. There was no “expo”, just pick up your shirts and go.
On Saturday, I got there really early because I know how Seal Beach parking can be and I parked next to the fire station. I was unsure if this was ok because the only signs were saying no parking without permit. If there were parking signs for the race it would be better. It ended up ok.
The race waves were interesting – under 8, 8-9 and over 9. I was in the front of the over 9, and was still trying to get around walkers, even though the walkers were supposed to start on the other side of the street after the run. THere were lots of people, so the first quarter mile took me about 3 minutes! After the beginning, there were still a lot of people, but I was able to find a space and get up to pace. The route wasn’t the most interesting, but it was pretty fast.
After the race, the food and water were on the pier, and there were too many people for the little space. It took a long time to get my water, then you had to cross the pier to get the other stuff. The expo had some interesting and fun booths.
Leaving from the parking lot was easy and took no time. Walking there from the pier was short, too. Overall, I liked it.

I did the 10K. This race has lots of runners and only 3 waves. I was in wave 3 and pretty much fast walked the first mile because there were so many people. They should probably have more waves so it could be spaced out a little more especially for the start of the race. The race also had a portion where you were running the San Gabriel bike path which is pretty narrow. Since there were a lot of runners, it’s difficult to pass other people because you didn’t want to fall into the ditch. Post race was great because lots of food and vendor freebies. I liked this race. I might do this race again.

the begining of this race is kind of a mess, the first turn comes quickly and you cant get around people at all, then when you leave the downtown area it gets real boring for most of the race. it can be a challenge finding parking in seal beach on a normal day so get there early to find a spot. the community seems to really come out for this event which creates a nice vibe in the crowd and they have a kids run where they will watch your kids for you while you run the race and some high schoolers will play games with them until you come back. they have a strict security system to make sure the kids go home with the right people.

I did the 10k
Easy packet pick up..race morning
no medal
timed
cotton t-shirt
the course is ok…gets windy in some sections…what was not ok was the start. Madness..
They had the 5K and the 10K starting at the same time. They had waves but it was clear people were not paying attention to the signs
Strollers in the first wave, walkers in the first wave… dogs in the first wave…
Walkers were supposed to start 10 min after the runners but a lot of them were in the front. Took almost a mile to get out of the jam.
Will not be back for this one. Going to Redlands this year.
