Traffic getting into the parking areas – had to pay for parking. Far walk to pick up shirts & bibs, not time to walk back to the car to drop off shirts before the race began. Lots of festive runners in Christmas apparel. Basic 10k route. Enjoyed running along the boardwalk, except for all the bums hassling the runners along the way, and didn’t appreciate the bum who blew pot smoke in my face 🙁 Appreciated the post race food.

This is an awesome race! It is very well organized and has the best tech shirt I have ever seen. The crowd is full of energy and the course is flat and fast. Maybe they should have had a water station a little earlier in the course but who has time to stop anyways. It was refreshing to hear that strollers needed to go to the back. No one listened but it was still nice to hear. I suggest standing as close to the front of the wave as possible if you are trying to PR. The first 1/4 mile of the race bottle necks a little on a turn and running around people who stop abruptly in the middle will cost you a few seconds.
I loved the post party and times were posted so quickly. I also enjoyed that many different people were pictured in race pics rather than seeing the same people over and over as usual.

I have done the 10K several times. It’s a pretty standard 10K with a nice flat course (the only thing resembling a “hill” is a very short incline as you head up from the boardwalk shortly before the finish). Although it’s in beach communities, only the start and finish are by the ocean. It has a festive holiday atmosphere, though, with lots of people dressed in costume. They usually have volunteers reading out splits at the mile markers. The “expo” (at the start/finish) is pretty good for a 5K/10K, with lots of freebies. A lot of people really like the long-sleeved tech shirts you can get with registration (usually gray with a hand-drawn holiday-themed logo that looks like it was done by a fourth grader, but sometimes it turns out reasonably well). Parking is in the beach lots, so you’ll pay — but then you’re at the beach. Overall, a pretty decent local race.
