Went to this race and they had a great expo with lots of fun stuff. The finish line is on the horse track in santa anita track so that is kind of novel and a new one. Running on the race track is kind of strange as the dirt is very loose and has a kind of loose feel to it.
after the race, the water and other stuff for the runners was kind of far away off the race track and through a very narrow gate which made it kind of a bottle neck. There was a guy there too saying there was going to be oranges at the end but I didn’t see any and was sore about that haha.
anyways a good event and lots of people – something over 5,000 i would guess

I’ve participated in this race every year since 2006 and it is by far one of my favorites, mainly for the scenic run through the L.A. County Arboretum and crossing the finish line on the actual historic Santa Anita race track. The post race “party” on the in-field is pretty cool. They always have plenty of recovery food and drink, along with other freebies. It’s always well organized. Pre-registration is at the mall so parking is free, along with same-day registration (parking is also free and there’s plenty of it right next to the starting line). Within the past few years they added a 2nd free t-shirt for all who register. Slightly off-topic, the photo’s that were added for this race here on this site don’t look familiar to the course though. Not sure where those came from.
