This is a good race overall, but the challenging terrain makes it a better race for more experienced runners. If you like steep inclines, then you will love this race. Keep in mnd that the course usually changes directions doing the 3 race series, so sometimes you start up the winding single track trail, and others you decline that same single track toward the end of the race. If you plan to race the course, do not get caught behind slower runners especially when the course is reversed and you begin with the early climb on the single track.

The course is beautiful but hilly and there are some parts that are single track. Runners can be so rude trying to keep there pace running down hill that I have got pushed and shoved and seen others fall, so it can be dangerous.
The other HUGE problem is allowing people with baby joggers to do this race. I have done this race for 2 years (6 races) and every time I have had people or seen people being hit by them. People with these joggers come flying done the hills and out of control. I have had several times been clipped in the heels by them! I have reported this every time and they still allow them on this race, so I won’t be doing it this year.

This is a fun race but pretty large for a trail race. There are a lot of good runners in this series so plenty of competition. Arrive plenty early. Parking is free but parking lots get progressively farther away. The starting area is a bit too cramped. It would be better if the start were more open. The trail begins with about a 10 foot wide path with wooden fence on either side, and it winds left to right, it’s hard to go even 4 people wide when running, so it can be difficult to get running room. After the first half mile, it’s not really a problem. The hills are very challenging. There are usually a bunch of hikers and bikes sharing the trails so you need to be on the alert. No medals or awards but shirts and a BBQ afterward. One note, if you do more than one race, all the shirts are the same from race to race, which is a bit annoying to have 3 of the same shirts at the end of the series. A different color each time or something would be nice.

This race is a well kept secret! It’s small and the series actually is run on weekday nights in the Summer. It’s one of my favorite races of the year. The course is a challenge but only 5 miles long. Starts with a gradual uphill climb for about a mile or so then you hit the big hill. From there you run on top of the ridge(many ups and downs), then an all down hill fast finish. The trails are not “groomed” and have some serious obstacles and ridges you need to avoid. But that’s the fun of trail running right? They feed you dinner after the race as well with a pretty good BBQ. Good race!
