Second year in a row running this race. Had a great time this year and last year. Well organized and I don’t even sign up until the day of the race. Always fun and great treats along the way. Well marked and the weather is pretty nice. The race shirts look good and the after race items are nice. Love that they used water bottles so you could not waste cups if you wanted. I would have had a personal best but one of the folks I was running with ran into a parked truck (and they were talking to me at the time) so I stopped for about 8 minutes till they could continue. But I still had one of my top race times and that was great! Beautiful neighborhoods to drive through also.

I ran this as my third half marathon EVER last year. I decided to be crazy and do this AFTER running the surf city the week before. Signed up that morning and it was very smooth. Had no trouble on the course and I was a very SLOW runner (call myself a Wogger) Had been sick prior and was just hoping to have a better time then I did when I ran the week before (I did). Grew up in Palm Springs and had never seen some of the neighborhoods I was able to run through. I enjoyed the fact that this was a smaller race. Refreshing after running a rock N roll and Surf City. Just a fun race overall!

I happened upon this race when my procrasitnation to register for Surf City Half got the best of me. One of my running team mates suggested this and I was really happy with the registration fee (about $65).
Booked a room in a nearby resort and got my honey to run with me and my cousin (half marathon virgin). Parking was simple, the course begins and ends at a local park. There were so many participants, I wasn’t expecting so many people and lo and behold my boyfriend and I got separated from my cousin. We looked around for a bit and then finally started running the course about 10 min after it actually started. Which was no big deal because there isn’t a time limit and they provide chip timing.
What we did NOT expect was very poor signage. Nobody on the course to ask for directions, and we got lost!! We ended up running the 5k course then back tracking to the start and starting over …. it was an unfortunate chain of events, we ended up only running approximately 9.4 miles, because the lack of signage and understaffing.
My cousin did finish, we got medals and post race snacks.
The swag bag was standard, the shirt was a tech shirt and you had the choice of long sleeve or short sleeve. The medal was cool, palm trees and the lanyard part was rainbow colored.
Hope this helps.
**I do want to put a disclaimer, I am not at all a “serious” runner, run for health benefits, and its a great way to socialize.
