Newport Mesa Spirit Run
March 18, 2018 · Newport Beach, CA
Distance: Multiple Distances
In 2016, Spirit Run changed its 5k and 10k courses to make them faster than ever. The 5k and 10k courses no longer have an out and back before the finish line and both finish on a decline.
In 2016, Spirit Run also added an Elite and Sub Elite Mile course. These new courses are very fast. They proceed point to point on Newport Center Drive, primarily on a decline. Spirit Run also added the Open Mile for ages 13 & Older that takes place on the same out and back course as its Youth Mile courses.
In 2017, Spirit Run is adding a second Elite/Sub Elite Mile Course so that males and females will race on separate courses and has separate finish lines. Spirit Run s new Dog Mile will also take place on this new course.
Spirit Run wants registrants to double or triple their fun by allowing them to register and compete in multiple races and to be eligible to win awards in each one. Adult registrants compete for medals, a cash prize purse in the Elite and Sub Elite Miles, a year’s worth of pizza in the Adult 5k and 10k, gift cards for a “burger and brew” in the Open Mile, and certificates for massage in the Elite and Sub Elite Mile and the 15k. Youth registrants compete for medals, a year’s worth of pizza or certificates for cookies in the Youth 5k and 1/4 – 1-mile races.
In between the walking and racing events, participants and spectators enjoy a Youth & Fitness Expo with a delicious pancake breakfast, other food and beverages, live music, massage and shopping for adults, youth activities, health and fitness information, and more.
