I really like doing reverse sprint triathlons! The expo was well organized and there were more vendors than I expected for a small race. It was close to home and affordable.
Race morning went well. Again, well organized and plenty of room in the staging area. But then … Wave 1 started about 20 – 30 minutes late. Grrr!! Then the worst part! As I was finishing up the bike portion and thinking I could get a PR, about 20 or so of us were stopped mid-race so that Wave 2 could cross our path. We were held up for several minutes. I was held up for about 2 minutes with others held up for longer. There went the PR! And there went the rest of my race!! And just in case you were thinking we must have been too slow, we were well within the time limit for Wave 1! So frustrating! The RD apologized for the “inconvenience”. Inconvenience?!?! Try apologizing for ruining my PR!!! My swim wasn’t great because I knew this ruined my race.
The course itself was really boring. Out on the tarmac for all of it.
Needless to say, I won’t be doing this race again!

Great race, something for all ages! They have several kids try divisions for the young-uns, as well as allowing kids over 13 to race the full triathlon. This year (2012) there were 2 waves, starting about 45 minutes apart, this really allowed things to spread out and meant the pool was quite empty when I hit it, compared to last year, when I had to swim around a ton of people. The run is now properly advertised as 3.7 miles, due to course changes because of construction. Post race lunch from Johnny Rebs and expo were great additions that had been missing in previous years races.

iI thoroughly enjoyed this tri!! It was a great first tri and I am definitely going to do it again next year. It was well run and the pre and post race were great. The course was nice and organized and the set up of the pool swim was perfect, especially for my first tri. As for the other posted all of the info about this tri was on their site so I don’t see how you can say it wasn’t challenging enough. The distances were listed so that should have given you an idea of how challenging it would be

This race just wasn’t for me. It’s a reverse triathlon(which I like the idea of swimming last) but it was a pool swim. The run was just more than a 5k and the bike like 13 miles. It was decently run but not a race I felt “challenged” and thats why I gave it a “C”. The race may be good for those getting into tri’s. And I like they have a couple kids divisions!
