Welcome to the Griffith Park Trail Half Marathon in Los Angeles, CA to be held October 14, 2017! Please join us for a run or tough hike in the Crown Jewel of Los Angeles. Come for the run, and then take some time to enjoy the many pleasures of the historical and world-renowned Griffith Park.

A beautiful, but tough Trail Half Marathon course that winds through historic Griffith Park, out to the Observatory, down to Bronson caves, and proceeds along the base of the Hollywood sign with incredible views of downtown Los Angeles.

An unparalleled race destination weekend. After the race, take some time to enjoy the historic city of Hollywood! Visit the walk of stars, Beverly Hills, or Mann’s Chinese Theatre. World-class dining, shopping, wine tasting, a visit to Universal Studios and much more.

Review

For any runner who has a so-called bucket list of events that they want to do someday, they had better make sure that AT LEAST one of Keira Henninger’s races is on that list! The runner is so well taken care of that there is absolutely nothing lacking…and certainly no lack of hills during the Griffith Park 1/2 Marathon! Everything aspect of this and its companion 10K were the epitome of the pampered experience, and it is clearly obvious that the Race Director is concerned about far more than collecting race entry fees. She cares about each and every runner, and she is a consumnate professional with the desire to provide the highest value and the best experience. I was impressed by not just the RD, but also the experience level of the eager volunteers, the care in course-marking, the incredible aid stations, the unparalleled race swag, and the overwhelming knowledge that I was being well cared for. If you are looking for the gold standard, look no further; this is where it’s at.

Review

This was a great event, from packet pickup to post-lunch the best part of this event was its simplicity. Sometimes it becomes overwhelming to participate in an event where there is soo much going on. I completely adored the wick tech tee from InkBurn & the medal as big as the palm of my hand. Another event in my backyard that I had to be a part of, my 2nd 1/2 marathon but my 1st trail 1/2 marathon & the course proved its difficulty when I had to stop to regain feeling in my quads. The view was amazing, out of all 20 years in Los Angeles I’ve never been able to see so far into the coast (to Catalina Islands) from anywhere past DTLA. La Cañada was also very visible from the San Fer Valley to about San Dimas. Gorgeous! I PR’d in this event but not with my expected time, I underestimated those hills.
At the end of the event Subway sandwhiches, GUs, and assorted snacks & refreshments were being served. I can’t wait for the 2012 event, I wonder what they will have in store.
