The Dana Point Turkey Trot has been a beloved Orange County tradition for 44 years. Burn off those pre-Thanksgiving meal calories by running or walking a 5K, 10K, Combo 15K, or Kids 1-Mile Gobble Wobble in the beautiful Dana Point Harbor. Registration includes a race t-shirt, finisher medal, bib with timing, and virtual goody bag. Plus, a portion of each registration is donated to local charities.

Review

This was the first 5k I convinced my husband to race with me on Thanksgiving 2011. Parking was tough. There were a lot of people in a very tight space. The start seemed a bit disorganized. It took a very long time to get to the starting line. It was a great course along the water, though. It was a little easier getting out of the area after the race. Overall, we had a good time and the course was great.

Review

This is a BIG event. If you’re looking for a small community Turkey Trot look somewhere else. It has the feel of a half marathon/marathon. I suggest you get there early. Parking can be a bit difficult as is the case with any beach city. I would also suggest picking up your bib/packet the day before the race to avoid the long lines. The course is very good with great views along Dana Pt. Support was adequate and the post race expo seemed decent although I didn’t stick around. Good race to ease the guilt of how much you end up eating later in the day!
