Enjoyed the race right up until I crossed the finish line. The organizers did not have enough finisher’s medals even for the pre-registrants (I registered in August), were unkind (at best) the day of the race, and have not been very responsive – they have not provided any kinds of a time frame for when the medals might be delivered, despite multiple queries, just that they will be mailed later. Their overall attitude is disingenuous at best, condescending and evasive at worst.

This race was a beautiful location with just enough rolling hills to keep it interesting. Course support was fabulous and the race medal and shirt were both very high quality. The race is coordinated by the Riverside RoadRunners chapter so it really does a great job of being runner-friendly. I ran the half marathon in 2014 which was the first time they offered that particular distance. I will be running the half again in 2015.
The race starts and ends at the Arlington Sports Park which includes restrooms, lots of shade and open spaces, along with a great playground for the family to keep busy while waiting for a runner to complete the race.
My top favorites of the race were running through the orange groves, the time spent in the historical Citrus Heritage State Park, and the fresh oranges at the finish.
My only real con was that there wasn’t much in the way, outside of the fresh oranges, at the finish to provide post-run fuel. I think there might have been some food truck vendors; however, I wasn’t interested in anything other than a bagel or something similar. But the oranges were so great it almost made up for it. That and a stop at In-n-Out on the way home. 😉
All in all, I had a GREAT experience at this race and look forward to doing it again every year.

It was a beautiful course. Parking was a little confusing at first because they listed a few options for parking but really, the lot closest was plenty big enough for everyone. I went to another one of the lots on their list and it was deserted. So I tried a different lot and found where everyone was. Parking was free and not too far from bib pick-up (if you weren’t able to get your bib prior to the race).
The course was a combination of dirt and paved paths through the beautiful orange groves. Plenty of water stations and a gel boost on the second half of the race. You could smell the oranges! I wish I had known there were going to be some hills. The website is a little hard to navigate. I wasn’t prepared for a hilly course.
There weren’t many people cheering during the race which was fine because I just enjoyed admiring the orange groves. But they did have a decent turnout at the finish line to give us that last push. The tough part was that last push was at a slight incline. I felt like there could have been more of a crowd at the end though.
I didn’t finish that late and half the vendors were already gone so post-race was a little disappointing. But I DID enjoy getting to eat all the oranges. They had a plentiful amount so there was no shame in standing there for 10 minutes eating my face away. The medal was big and sparkly. Definitely a good addition to my bling collection. They didn’t skimp on size. It’s a good 3 inches.
I’ll be running again for sure!

This was a very well organized race. I enjoyed the run through the orange groves and through the park. However, I was disappointed that I could not find any results posted at the run after finishing. In addition, even if it was decided not to give age group awards, I think they should have been on the results spread sheet. Glad to hear they are changing it for next year.

This race features a 5k or 10k, I chose the 10k. Entry fee was very low, and included a quality long sleeved tech tee and an awesome finishers medal. Prizes were only awarded to the top male/female winners, but finishing times were still posted by AG, and with the really nice finishers medal you didn’t feel cheated about not getting an AG award.
There was plenty of FREE parking and check-in /packet pick up was easy and quick. There were aso plenty of bathrooms (real ones) and porta potties.
I really enjoyed the course, especially the run through the State Citrus Park. The traffic control was good and the aid stations were great.
I was really impressed with this race….it was very organized, the citrus themed medals were awesome. My family had a great day, including having them sing Happy Birthday to my daughter at the start line.
I will definitely put this race o my calender for next year.

Signed up for this race a couple of weeks ago, mainly because I’d like to run a new personal best on the 10k, and the course seems very well suited for a fast run. Apart from that, it runs through one of my favorite spots in Riverside – the citrus heritage state park – with beautiful views over the orange groves.
