This is a well run local race (1/2 marathon): easy packet pick up, easy parking, well marked course with enough water stops. They claim the race is less hilly than previous years but it is still pretty challenging. My GPS tracked almost 700 feet of climb – most of it was during the first 7 miles. The course is scenic and mostly traffic free. The biggest complaint was that there was very little post-run food. It appeared there was only water and orange slices. Overall, pretty decent race.

My husband and I look forward to this race every year. A wonderful event for the family (and dogs). A great level 5k course/route through scenic old Redlands. Easy packet & bib pick up. Lots of port-a-potties at the start. Great post race event with many local vendors at the Redlands Bowl.

I ran the half marathon this year. My friend and I picked up our race bibs the morning of the race, which was a breeze to do. There was also plenty of parking (but then again, we got there pretty early just to be safe). Finding where the START line was took a little bit (had to look on the hand-drawn map posted online) but it’s a small race, so it wasn’t that big a deal. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot due to the fact that it’s a small race, so I wasn’t disappointed at the lack of a goodie bag and that the post race was merely water/juice and oranges plus a lot of vendors hawking their goods.
Now onto the race/course:
The first half of the course was pretty hilly, so it was a challenge. I always carry my own water, so I didn’t really worry too much when we got through a residential area where it seemed as if there were no water stations for maybe 2 miles? The weather was slated to be hot, and it was hot. My biggest suggestion would be to start the half marathon EARLIER than 7:30am! How about a 6am start? That would work well with the potential heat.
I was fortunate enough to PR, so I can’t say that it was bad. =)
Would I run this race again? Maybe. If they move up the start time, I’d really consider it. The registration fees are really affordable, even up until almost a week before race day. It’s a bit of a drive for me (1 hour) so I’d have to think about that too. It was a great training run for me; I’m running the OC marathon.

This was the first time I ran this race. For a small race it was very well organized, the volunteers were all extremely friendly, plenty of water stops. Parking was free and there are many places around to celebrate with your friends if you didn’t stay for the post race fun there.
Now for the race. I wouldn’t recommend it for first timers (I did the 1/2 marathon) it is hilly and on our day it was a warm one. 5 miles of a slow upgrade and some challenging hills too.
Next year they are trying for a technical shirt which would bring me back (runners dont wear cotton shirts!!)
The medal was nice too!!!
A few of my friends had a race PR on this course, but they are all veteran runners.

If you’re a slower runner, this race is not for you. the volunteers I actually saw were amazing. However, they were told to pack up and leave when MOST not all but most runners had passed by. (And I wasn’t even last.) There were people far enough behind me that we couldn’t even see them and I saw water stops being taken down. The slowest people went miles and miles with no water, and the signage started to be taken down as well.
If you’re not slow, by all means, rock this race. The volunteers are wonderful and the course was SUPER supported at first. But, fall to a slower pace (even if you’re WELL within the time limit) and you’re basically on your own going through random residential neighborhoods. Hope you don’t get hurt because NOBODY is checking on you – no water, no volunteers, no policeman or cyclist even riding around to make sure the back of the pack is okay.

This is a very well organized race. The people are super nice.
Easy free parking.
Plenty of Porta Potty at the start.
Race started right on time! They had plenty of volunteers on the course. Everyone was really nice.
Plenty of water stations also.
The course is challenging with a hilly part at mid course (I ran the 10K).
They had a small Expo at the end and offered free massages.
I really liked this race and I will be back for sure!
