Two people in their 60s gave new meaning to the word “perseverance” in 2013, running a marathon every single day of the year. The couple, Janette Murray-Wakelin, 64, and Alan Murray, 68, completed their 365-day run around Australia on Tuesday, according to their website.
And they accomplished their goal while on a raw, vegan diet that included several bananas a day.
Even more incredible? On Wednesday, Jan. 1, they ran their 366th consecutive marathon, which they say is a world record.
According to their Facebook page, they’ve run precisely 9,776.75 miles.
“We are healthier, more physically fit and have unlimited energy at beyond 60 years of age than in our earlier years,” they wrote on their website, RunningRawAroundAustralia.com.
