What a fun race – great for the family. The 5K course was great for the kids – mostly flat, wide streets, plenty of water stops, festive atmosphere, cute medals. We registered the morning of the race – quick, easy, organized and hassle-free. The expo after the race was entertaining – some nice freebies for the kids. The volunteers were helpful and lots of them.

The Spirit Race was on a day with perfect weather! Everyone seemed very upbeat and happy. Pre-race
wasn’t as easy to find as I thought it would be, but there were lots of police officers to guide us in the right direction. I was a little confused on where to go for my race’s starting point since many races were starting at all different times. Registration for late runner started very early at 6:15 in the morning which gave people plenty of time to jump in on the fun last minute. I don’t think anyone cared much for the flat course, but I did it for the cause and a good workout. Even my 1 1/2 year old had fun afterwards. There were tons of exhibitors, music and kid friendly handouts. Overall, easy family event. Not a very competitive vibe.

easily the most boring race i have done. multiple loops around fashion island shopping male is really weak. pretty much no frills in the pre or post race area. if you are just walking or doing it to support the cause then its fine, they didnt have bad service or anything, parking wasnt as easy as you might think with it being at a mall because most of that parking is inside the course so off limits, easy to get in and out of the area so that is a plus

This race is a hidden gem with great prizes, great vendors, a nice course, and plenty of bathrooms. Parking and getting to the start line is easy since the location is a mall designed to handle high traffic. The simplicity of parking and parking’s proximity to the start line give the Spirit Run a small town neighborhood road race feel to it. This “neighborhood race” feel is enhanced by the generous support of local merchants, as it seems like everyone wins a massage from Spa Gregorie’s, gift cards from Dick’s Sporting Goods or Toy Boat, or running shoes from A Snail’s Pace. Its kind of like going to an Easter egg hunt where everyone finds something and at the end of the event the question is not if you received booty, but how much!

Nice race with the usual great weather! The course is a little hilly, but I think there are some changes this year so I’m excited about seeing how they lay everything out. If you have a chance do the 15K (10K + 5K) – which is challenging, but a nice race workout. There are a lot of exhibitors, food, and great prizes for the age group winners.

This race has so many options for runners of all ages. I don’t know how they successfully juggle it all year after year. It has events for kids that suits their attention and interest that no one else has. For serious adult runners it offers either a 5K or 10K in a central Orange County location. And it’s always a carnival afterwards! I think they even have money left over to donate to the local schools too.

I like the Newport Spirit Run. I’ve done this race for many years. I think what I like the most about it is the atmosphere surrounding the event. It’s well run and organized. And there always seem to be a lot of kids everywhere! I think it benefits the Newport schools so it’s a good cause as well. This race is always on my calendar.

Not exactly my idea of excitement circling Fasion Island three titmes. Not an altogether bad race but there are many other alternatives that would provide better scenery than the buoldings of Newport Center. You get the occasional glimpse of the ocean. Also, the triple loop around the center can get a little boring.
